Caribbean Life Newspaper Endorses Sam Taitt for the 45th City Council District Race

With great effort comes great reward!

Exciting news! Caribbean Life Newspaper, the area’s largest and most influential Caribbean American newspaper, has endorsed college professor Sam Taitt for the 45th District Council race!

The paper posted the following statement on the endorsements section of their newspaper and website: “We endorse Taitt, whose plan for a federal credit union for the district will provide the greatest good for the greatest number, at this time of national economic stress.”

Asked about this accomplishment, Sam responded, “It is truly humbling to receive the support of such an instrumental local media giant as Caribbean Life Newspaper. Their excellent coverage of events that interest and affect Caribbean residents of New York City, their exceptional news analysis, and the responsible role they play in uniting Caribbean peoples have kept me a faithful reader for many years.”

“I intend to be the voice our community so sorely lacks in City Council, and Caribbean Life’s belief in my ability to represent this heavily West Indian community is both encouraging and motivating,” Mr. Taitt continued. “It is time for change that counts!”

Founder of New Creation Ministries, Inc., John Williams, Endorses Professor Sam Taitt for City Council

Minister John Williams today announced his support for Sam Taitt, a community activist, Professor at Kingsborough Community College, and candidate for the 45th City Council District of East Flatbush, Flatlands, and Midwood.

Williams, a former candidate in the City Council race, recently ended his bid for the seat currently held by two term incumbent, Dr. Kendall Stewart. Williams is a community activist, and has an extensive background in Urban Public Health. He has served as the Founder, President, and CEO of the New Creation Ministries Inc. in Central Brooklyn since 1984.

"My decision to endorse Sam was a fairly easy one, considering our vast similarities,” Williams said. “We both have strong church affiliations and hold very high ethical standards and values.  We both place a high value on the educational improvements of our youth, and we have both toiled long and hard to ensure that this community is not forgotten in terms of city government service delivery. I am happy to pledge my support to Sam because I believe he is the most qualified and trustworthy candidate to turn this district around, and I trust that my base of Seventh - day Adventist churches, and other religious organizations will join with me to provide whatever assistance we can to help get him elected on September 15."

On Williams’ endorsement, Taitt comments, “I identify with John on many policy issues, and I support the work he has been doing in bringing health services to churches and community organizations. He is well-known among clergy members in the district, so his endorsement certainly helps to strengthen our base.”
